Mythical Games Secures $37M in Funding
Mythical Games, the developers of NFL Rivals and Blankos Block Party, has secured $37 million in Series A funding, with plans to raise an additional $20-30 million later this year. The funding will support their goal of bringing creativity to video games through Web3 infrastructure. The round was led by Scytale Digital and included new investors like ARK Invest and Animoca Brands. Mythical Games previously raised $150 million in a Series C round and aims to achieve profitability within 12 months. Their mobile game, NFL Rivals, has surpassed 1 million downloads and features optional NFT-based professional players. Each user is provided with a digital wallet for NFT transactions.
Ubisoft Announces its Debut Blockchain Game
Ubisoft has announced its web3 game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, powered by the Oasys blockchain. This move aligns Ubisoft with Square Enix and Sega in embracing web3 technology for gaming. Champions Tactics marks Ubisoft's first full integration of blockchain technology in a game, demonstrating their commitment to exploring its potential. Yuga Labs Announces HV-MTL Forge Debut Season
Yuga Labs has announced the first season of their HV-MTL Forge Web3 game, which lets players create and share their own spaces for voting contests. The game is made for people who own HV-MTL NFTs and lets them make things in the Bored Ape Yacht Club universe. Through the meta layer, players can change their forge to make it their own and compete for social recognition. Yuga Labs is making a game with the help of Makemepulse.
There will be six seasons and two game modes. After the first three seasons, the dungeon crawler stage is likely to come out around August. Players must build and take care of a forge while keeping their HV character happy and productive. The success of the created spaces is decided by the community, and players can move up social leaderboards and earn energy by completing tasks. In the future, players will be able to use the energy they have saved up to play a roguelike dungeon crawler game with their own characters.
Fableborne Closed Playtest
Fableborne, an action RPG and base-building game is organizing a closed playtest in early July. This playtest will be limited to a small group of players, but the game has conducted similar tests in the past and is expected to offer more opportunities in the future. Registration for the playtest opens on June 28th through their Discord server. Fableborne encourages participants to fill out a survey after the playtest ends to be considered for future tests. The new playtest brings several new features, including leaderboards, a new in-game currency, and content rebalancing.
My Pet Hooligan Join Epic Games Platform
My Pet Hooligan, a web3 game, has been accepted onto the Epic Games platform, expanding its player base and contributing to Epic's growth as a major distribution platform for web3 gaming. As part of the announcement, My Pet Hooligan is launching the next phase of their alpha testing, granting access to players who own Hooligan or Zuckbot NFTs. Download keys for 'Alpha 2.0 Turbo' will be provided on June 29th. Interested players can also sign up for beta access on the game's website and have a chance to win custom baseball jerseys through a raffle.
Sparkadia Playtest
Sparkadia has announced an early access weekend for their MOBA-style game, Sparkball. Players can try the action-packed brawler on Steam for three days. Formerly known as Edenbrawl, Sparkball combines elements of League of Legends and Rocket League. Access keys can be obtained through their Twitter feed, Discord community, or by owning certain Sparkadia NFTs.
Heroes of Mavia Beta Test
Heroes of Mavia, a mobile PvP game with base-building mechanics, is preparing to launch a new beta at the end of June. The beta will be conducted in two phases, leading up to the official game launch later in the year. The first phase will be exclusive to landowners, gradually expanding to others over a two-month period. Phase 2 will open up to a wider audience, with a waitlist signup page available. The beta will feature limited progress and specific game features. The official game launch will occur at the end of the year, with a gradual global rollout and a final progress reset.
Star Atlas Escape Velocity Reaches its End
Star Atlas is set to shut down its mini-game, Escape Velocity, on July 7th, 2023. This browser-based game allowed players to gather game resources and NFTs without owning a Mining Claim. However, Star Atlas will be introducing a new mining class ship that enables players to gather resources and earn ATLAS tokens. Escape Velocity required a refundable deposit of 1000 ATLAS tokens to play and had discovered some players using bots, resulting in capped rewards for those individuals. In the future, resource gathering will require a Mining Claim or one of the newly announced Mining Ships.
