This week brings a lot of excitement and energy for Web3 gamers as we have a deluge of alpha playtests live right now. You can play and test upcoming Web3 games like Champions Ascension, Champions Arena, Star Atlas, Wildcards, and Tearing Spaces. Other gaming news had Mythical Games launching NFL Rivals, MMA Web3 game on the cards, and Eternal Dragons eyeing another successful tournament. Animoca Brands Subsidiary Notre Games Plans MMA Web3 Game
Exciting news for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fans out there as Animoca Brands Notre Game and MMA One Championship have teamed up to create a new NFT game called One Fight Arena. This mobile game will use the extensive IP library and a rich lineup of fighters from ONE Championship.
The NFT game will be tested later this year to identify issues before its official launch in 2024. When it's released on Google Play and the App Store, it will be free to download.
According to a press report, One Fight Arena will focus on strategy over action, which sets it apart from other sports games. Players can choose from a wide range of ONE athletes, including Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson and Rodtang "The Iron Man" Jitmuangnon.
Players will experience a unique martial arts environment from a first-person perspective and develop their characters from the start of their sports careers.
Star Atlas Escape Velocity Mini Web3 Game
Star Atlas has just launched a new play-and-earn mini-game called Escape Velocity. This game requires players to search for treasures on a grid map, with rewards ranging from basic resources to a legendary ship.
To participate in the test event, players need to lock up 1000 ATLAS tokens, which currently cost around $3. The tokens are fully refundable when the player decides to despawn their ship.
In Escape Velocity, each grid point represents a star system and also equates to a cartesian coordinate on the Solana blockchain. Treasures spawn randomly and remain in place until found, but the exact spawning mechanism is a secret. Star Atlas states that the number of players and the amount of game activity can affect the spawn rate.
However, some players have noted that the gameplay can become tedious due to the need for frequent wallet transactions. The game's mechanics could also make it vulnerable to botting.
Overall, Escape Velocity is an interesting addition to Star Atlas' play and earn offerings, but it remains to be seen how successful it will be in the long run.
Eternal Dragons Alpha Guild Tournament and Alpha Web3 Mobile Game Launch
Eternal Dragons, a web3 auto-battler, has released a new mobile app for Android devices. This free-to-play alpha version includes both PvE and PvP game modes, with leaderboards and prizes for both. Players can win Eternium tokens and Descendant Eggs, which hatch into Genesis Dragons.
Adding a mobile app may increase the game's player base, which already includes those who enjoy play and earn leaderboards. However, Eternal Dragons is still in alpha testing, so there may be some bugs or issues to work out.
The game recently introduced a new Psychic Affinity to their units, which can increase a team's spellcasting and resistance. The developers have also announced a special Guild Tournament happening this weekend (April 29th-30th), which is invite-only. However, players can still participate by purchasing Player Cards, which are NFTs associated with specific players and tournaments. Cardholders receive a percentage of the player's earnings during that tournament.
The unique structure of these Player Cards allows professional eSports players to monetize their skills and build a support community around themselves. These moves demonstrate Eternal Dragons' commitment to growing as an eSport and providing opportunities for players and fans.
Web3 Game Champions Arena Playtest
Great news for all turn-based strategy game lovers. Champions Arena has opened another public playtest for their upcoming game, and this time they're offering rewards to players who participate regularly. You don't even need a Gala account to join in, but if you want to receive the rewards, you'll need to log in using your Gala login.
The playtest offers three different play and earn opportunities. Players will receive Gems simply for logging in and playing for at least three days. Completing chapters from the campaign and placing in the top 50 of the Arena leaderboards also provide rewards. Unfortunately, these rewards will only be in-game items, but they'll provide a nice starting boost when the game is released.
Champions Arena has added tons of new content to this playtest, including many new Champions and updated features. They've also included the first look at Estates, a home base for your Champions, where you can summon and dismantle them and craft equipment. If you don’t have your own Estate, you can access the public one available to everyone.
The developers have also planned an NFT sale for Estates next week, so stay tuned for more details on that. This is a great opportunity to test out the game and earn rewards before its official release. So, what are you waiting for? Join the playtest now!
The Sandbox Mega City 3 Land Sale
The Sandbox is back with another land sale event! This time, it's called the Mega City 3 Land Sale and over 250 plots are available for purchase. The event follows a raffle system where players must hold at least 1,011 SAND tokens and sign up on the Sandbox website to participate. The raffle winners will be randomly assigned one of the plots available. The sale offers 222 regular lands and 12 premium lands in the raffle, and 6 estates and 12 plots available in auctions on Open Sea. Signing up for the raffle started on April 26th and runs through May 10th, 3am UTC. Remember that users must have cleared the KYC process for The Sandbox to participate and have enough SAND tokens in their wallet for the type of plot they sign up for.
