Solana Launches GameShift
More ease of access and a one-stop solution for web3 game developers as Solana makes life a bit easier. Solana Labs has launched GameShift API, a web3 initiative that streamlines game development and offers NFT solutions. The platform aims to simplify the process for game developers to integrate a blockchain "ownership layer" into their games on the Solana network. Players can own in-game items as NFTs and trade them in marketplaces. GameShift provides comprehensive solutions for NFT and cryptocurrency custody, game markets, inventory management, NFT creation, and payment card connections. It aims to empower developers to build web3 games faster and more confidently, fostering the growth of the web3 gaming ecosystem.
Ubisoft Enters Partnership with Cronos
Ubisoft, the world's leading video game developer known for games like Assassin's Creed, has partnered with Cronos as a validator for their blockchain network. Cronos, which works with Ethereum and Cosmos, aims to expand its presence in the NFT gaming market. Ubisoft will be one of 27 validators, helping to create and verify new blocks on the decentralized network. The collaboration seeks to promote blockchain games, utilizing Ubisoft's expertise from its Strategic Innovation Lab. Specific partnership details were not disclosed. Ubisoft reiterates its commitment to web3 and blockchain gaming as it continues to delve deeper into emerging tech.
A Simple Puzzle Games Sky Rockets Transactions on Sui Blockchain
Sometimes it only takes simplicity and a minimalist approach to garner success. This week we saw a simple tile game doing the trick for the Sui network. The simple yet captivating Web3 game, Sui 8192, has caused a remarkable spike in daily transactions for the Sui Network. On July 17, the Sui blockchain witnessed an astonishing 258 million transactions thanks to the popularity of the game. Sui 8192 is reminiscent of the well-known 2048 puzzle game from 2014, where players slide and merge tiles using arrow keys until they achieve a tile value of 8192. This engaging game was initially released to the public in October 2022.
Sandbox Open Doors for User-created Content
The Sandbox is taking a major step in its metaverse vision by allowing users to create and publish their own gaming or social experiences. By the end of 2023, the public will be able to host and run their unique creations on the platform. Previously, The Sandbox showcased controlled releases from partner projects, but now they are opening up the platform for anyone with a plot of land to be a creator. Users can publish experiences, create landing pages, and request early access to share their content with the public. Creators have the option to charge entrance fees or require specific NFT ownership for access. These public experiences will be discoverable on the main map, and creators can also share direct links to their creations.
Web3 Game Tearing Spaces Open Beta
Get ready to play and earn with yet another exciting game, Tearing Spaces. Tearing Spaces is launching an open beta that offers various ways for players and guilds to earn rewards. The beta will feature the newly introduced Divine Stewards, playable characters with special powers, who grant access to an exclusive reward pool. Players can earn TSC tokens daily based on their performance and the rarity of their weapons. The beta will run in two seasons, each with specific playtimes. Top guilds can also win prizes based on their achievements. Overall, the open beta provides opportunities for players to earn tokens, NFTs, and other rewards through gameplay and referrals.
Web3 Game Skyborne Legacy Free Mint Event
This week we also saw Skyborne Legacy free mint. The event was a massive success it got sold out even before it reached the public phase. Earlier, Skyborne Legacy hosted a free mint for limited edition Gems and characters, but to participate, users need a whitelist spot. The mint has gained significant attention, and options for obtaining a whitelist spot are running out. Additionally, users can try to secure a spot through Discord, partner projects, or by engaging with a specific Tweet. The free mint offers four NFTs, including Nexian Gems and Genesis Immortal NFTs. Nexian Gems grant future whitelist access and special privileges, while Genesis Immortals are powerful in-game Heroes with unique traits. There are also exclusive 1-of-1 Immortals with special features.
LootRush NFT Rental Market
LootRush is creating a centralized NFT rental platform for web3 games, allowing players to rent NFTs without KYC or credit card requirements. They offer a trust-based system where actual NFT transfers occur between wallets. Players have a rental limit based on the NFTs' value, which can be increased by providing additional information. LootRush also offers a custodial wallet app for unlimited rentals without KYC or collateral. They have NFTs available for dozens of games and accept payment in credit cards or various tokens. The platform aims to make NFT rentals more accessible and convenient for players in the web3 gaming space.
