Immutable and Polygon Partnership
Immutable and Polygon have partnered up to develop a blockchain for decentralized gaming using zero-knowledge technology.
This collaboration aims to expedite the creation of decentralized games and move Web3 closer to mass deployment. Immutable's upcoming zkEVM, an EVM-compatible ZK-rollup powered by Polygon technology, will make it simpler and cheaper for both large game studios and individual developers to create Web3 applications.
The partnership comes at a critical time for Web3, as games accounted for 50% of all blockchain activity in 2022, and 75% of game developers foresee developing Web3 games in the future.
The announcement comes just before the launch of Polygon zkEVM on Mainnet Beta, which significantly boosts transaction processing.
Eternal Dragons Alpha Tournament
Eternal Dragons blockchain game is holding their first official PvP tournament from March 31st to April 2nd with a prize pool of over $15,000 USDC.
The tournament offers 128 slots for players, with tickets going on sale next week. Top 64 players will receive prizes, with the first-place winner taking home at least $3,000.
A second Alpha PvP League starts on March 20th, giving players a chance to practice and earn rewards. The tournament is single elimination with best of three matches until the final, which will be the best of five matches.
Eternal Dragons has launched Player Cards, which are given to every player who registers for a tournament. Each entrant gets 100 cards that track their stats and represent a stake in the tournament.
Player Cards can be distributed to others, and everyone who holds a card shares in the prizes won by the player associated with that card.
CCP Games Working on AAA Web3 Game
CCP Games, the developers of the popular space MMO, Eve Online, has secured $40 million in funding from investors, including Andressen Horowitz, BITKRAFT, Nexon, Kingsway Capital, and HASHED.
The funds will be used to develop a new AAA game project set in the EVE universe, utilizing blockchain technology and Web3. The game will focus on persistence, composability, and open third-party development, with on-chain features and smart-contract blockchain technology.
The new project aims to build a new interaction between virtual worlds and gamers, creating a more meaningful experience for players.
Neopets as a Web3 Game
The beloved game from the early 2000s, Neopets, is returning as a Web3 game with NFTs, metaverse, and Play-to-earn mechanics.
The new Neopets Metaverse will feature personalized Neohomes, a new battle combat system, and recreated shops and P2P Marketplaces. Dominic Law, CEO of Neopets, is confident that the game has what it takes to succeed in the Web3 space, and is constructing a blockchain-based 3D virtual environment for the creatures.
The Alpha Release aims to appeal to both seasoned Neopians and new gamers from around the world. The game is set to launch in Q1 2024 and aims to introduce Web3 to the game's massive global fan base.
Despite some investor skepticism, Neopets Metaverse has secured $4 million from venture capital firms and blockchain funds.
Yuga Labs Second Trip Begins
Yuga Labs is launching its Second Trip to the Otherside on March 25th, inviting Otherdeed owners to join and allowing them to invite guests using a single Guest Code.
The event will offer character customization and feature certain NFT PFP collections. Login begins at 11:30 am ET (3:30 pm UTC), and participants will be placed in a queue until the event launches at noon.
Players who disconnect during the event have five minutes to rejoin or lose their spot. No new players will join under any circumstances once the trip starts.
Yuga Labs, the creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club, have developed a Metaverse project called Otherside. It features 100,000 floating islands, with each island represented by an NFT Otherdeed.
The Otherdeeds are available in various tiers that determine their appearance and resource output. Owners can generate up to four resources from their land, and some come with special Artifacts or Koda visitors.
While the effects of these bonuses are unknown, they will benefit players. The NFTs are dynamic and evolve based on the owner's actions.
Web3 Mocaverse Moca NFTs
The Mocaverse is off to a strong start, with Animoca Brands wasting no time in adding value and utility to their new Moca PFP collection.
The Mocas reveal came just three weeks after the NFT mint. Additionally, soft staking system implementation and plans for linking to other projects in the Animoca portfolio also came out.
With a current floor price of nearly $1500 USD, the Mocas are already increasing in value. Holders can now earn experience points through the soft staking system, and Animoca has acquired 1.5M Ape Coins to allow Moca owners to participate in Yuga Labs ecosystem voting.
Expect more connections like this to roll out soon, as Animoca rapidly provides utility for their new Mocaverse project.
The Mocaverse has launched an experience system that allows Mocas to earn points through soft staking and community events.
The soft staking program began with the unveiling of Mocas on March 17th and runs for one week. Moca holders earn one experience point each day the NFT remains untouched in their wallet.
Mocas can also earn points by participating in events, contests, and community rewards.
