Andreessen Horowitz Leads $5M for Rahul Sood Irreverent Labs.
A new Seattle-based startup led by Microsoft veteran Rahul Sood caught the attention of investors in Silicon Valley. Rahul Sood is a seasoned entrepreneur and now following the recent trend, launches a new gaming venture where he plans to introduce machine learning, NFT's, blockchain, and metaverse into gaming.
His newest venture, Irreverent Labs caught the attention of investors in Silicon Valley. Andreessen Horowitz led a $5 million round of funding for Irreverent Labs. Horowitz firm is active in supporting blockchain and crypto-based startups and has invested at least 50 of them.
The emerging sector has gained quite traction nowadays and Horowitz has put a lot on stakes. Some other investors include Chainsmokers Mantis VC, Keen Crypto, Advancit Capital, and more.
Rahul Sood said that it only took eight days to raise the funding for the company. This shows that his track record is spectacular in the industry and investors have a lot of faith in his ideas.
Rahul Sood has quite an illustrious career in the industry, previously he co-founded Unikrn which got acquired earlier this year. Sood also leads Microsoft Ventures in the past.
However, his newest venture has got him excited the most. He shared his sentiments, “This is like the highlight of my career, it’s everything I love all wrapped up into a little project which I think is going to be a real success.”
Irreverent Labs will announce their game next month but Sood offered some insights into his project. Talking to GeekWire, Sood said that the game takes place in a metaverse that will blend the physical and virtual world.
He also added that the players will “own” the characters in the metaverse with the right to buy and sell. This is where Sood will introduce NFT's. The characters in the metaverse will be powered by AI and will get smarter with time.
Arianna Simpson, general partner at Andreessen Horowtiz said, “Irreverent Labs’ first game is so delightfully eccentric and simple to play, it’s easy to overlook the technical achievement of shaping truly original NFT characters with advanced machine learning.”
