Matter Labs recently announced a restructuring effort that includes a 16% reduction in its workforce, with CEO Alex Gluchowski citing the need to align the company's roles with its evolving focus on ZKsync Era and ZK Chains.
Adjusting Organization for New Market Demands
According to Gluchowski, the changes were prompted by significant shifts in the market environment and business needs throughout the year. Teams working on ZKsync Era now require different technology and support, leading to a reassessment of the current team structure to ensure alignment with new priorities.
The evaluations led to a comprehensive review of the workforce, ensuring that the organization remains focused on its new market demands. Gluchowski made it clear that the layoffs were not performance-related and detailed an exit package for affected employees, including salary continuation, healthcare coverage, and career support.
The exit package offers three months of base salary, four months of healthcare coverage, personalized career services, and continued immigration assistance for four months. Gluchowski expressed gratitude to all team members for their contributions to Matter Labs' journey, shaping the company into a transformative force in the industry.
RDX Works Lays Off 15% of Workforce
In a similar move, RDX Works, the team behind the Radix DeFi platform, announced a 15% reduction in its workforce as part of a cost-cutting measure. CEO Piers Ridyard stated that the layoffs are part of a broader effort to streamline operations and adapt to changing market conditions.
Despite the workforce reduction, key projects like Flash Liquidity, the Cassandra test network, and multifactor account persona control and recovery (MFA) will continue as planned. This strategic decision aims to position RDX Works for sustained success and growth in the evolving decentralized finance landscape.
