In 2023, binance faced a setback when the Financial Services Commission blocked its majority stake acquisition in the South Korean exchange GOPAX. Following the ruling, binance was required to reduce its holdings from around 70% to 10%, prompting cloud services provider Megazone to step in with a proposal to purchase binance's majority stake.
